Course Details
Although academic qualification does not play a major role for news anchoring or program anchoring, the increasing demand of good anchors has resulted in the need for specialized and professional training. Many certificate courses have been designed to enhance the skills of the aspirants. Some programs even impart training on handling the camera and provide information on other technical aspects. An overview of film and television production techniques and practices, training in the change of facial expressions, voice modulation, use of proper diction and pitch according to the given script/situation, and exercises in anchoring, interviewing, news reading, pantomime, and acting for the camera are taught to the budding anchors.
Career Prospects
The scope of TV anchoring is very wide. With the launch of many news and entertainment channels, job opportunities in this field are on the rise. One can work with any news channel as a TV news/programme anchor or with any entertainment channel as a host/programme presenter in a reality show, game show, comedy show.

Presently, the demand for TV anchors is extremely high. Beginners can expect a starting salary between Rs. 8000 and Rs. 12,000 per month. Experienced TV anchors can be offered lucrative packages, starting from Rs. 30,000. Apart from money, good anchoring can easily fetch name and fame.
