Course Details
Several programs are available at undergraduate as well as at post-graduate levels. One can opt for a degree or diploma program in fishery science. Minimum qualification for a degree program at Bachelor’s level is a pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board with physics, chemistry and biology as subjects of study. For post graduate degree/diploma program, one has to hold either a bachelor’s degree in fisheries or Zoology. Ph. D program is also conducted by few institutes in this field.
Career Prospects
After pursuing course in the field of fishery science, one can work as farm manager, hatchery manager, processing of stock & post harvest manager or fisheries inspector. The scholars of fishery science can be employed in industries based on fishing or can work in aquaculture technology. They can also opt for research and teaching jobs in this field. The aspirants can work as marine-fisheries interviewers, environmental project manager, information technology specialist, eco-toxicologist or aquatic ecologist.
